300 cartons of foreign cigarettes seized in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, March 23, 2026 (BSS) – A total of 300 cartons of foreign cigarettes were seized at Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport from the bag of a passenger who arrived from Muscat. 

A joint operation team, involving airport authorities, NSI, and customs officials, seized the cigarettes worth about Tk 6 lakh this morning. The passenger, Atiqur Rahman, arrived from Muscat on a 'Salam Air' flight at 8:50 am. 
 
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Customs Intelligence and NSI conducted surveillance on the passenger and discovered the cigarettes during a baggage search.
  
Engineer Ibrahim Khalil, the Public Relations Officer of Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram, said that the accused passenger Atiqur Rahman resides in the Banshkhali police station area of Chattogram.
 
The passenger was released after giving a verbal warning. Airport authorities have implemented strict measures to prevent the illegal entry of prohibited goods and revenue evasion.
