KURIGRAM, March 23, 2026 (BSS) - Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has announced that the historic Sindurmoti Pond, located on Kurigram-Lalmonirhat bordering area, will be developed into a modern tourist attraction.
He made the announcement while speaking as the chief guest at a preparatory meeting for an upcoming fair held at the Sindurmoti Pond bank today.
Dulu said, “I have a dream centering on Sindurmoti Pond. Architects have already been brought from Dhaka. They are working on how to transform it into a modern and attractive destination.”
He said unauthorized shops built around the pond have damaged its natural beauty. These structures will be removed, he said, adding that encroached land will also be recovered with the help of government surveyors.

Expressing optimism about the upcoming traditional Sindurmoti Fair scheduled for March 27, the minister said thousands of devotees and visitors from home and abroad are expected to attend the event.
He also emphasized strict measures to maintain discipline at the fair.
“Bangladesh belongs to all religions and people—this is the core spirit of our independence,” he said.
