Around 5,000 receive free eye treatment in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, Apr 3, 2026 (BSS) - Around 5,000 people received free eye treatment services at a day-long programme held in Rampal upazila of the district today.

The programme was organised with the slogan "Prevent blindness - let the light return to the eyes, let the smile bloom in life" at the premises of Rampal Perikhali Model High School.

State Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Member of Parliament for Bagerhat-3 constituency Sheikh Faridul Islam took the initiative to arrange the free eye treatment programme.

During the programme, distressed and underprivileged people of the area were provided with free eye examinations, medical advice and necessary medicines.

A team of expert eye specialists offered treatment services to the patients.

Speaking as the chief guest, Sheikh Faridul Islam said the government is working to ensure healthcare services reach the doorsteps of the people, adding that such welfare-oriented initiatives will continue in the future.
