Moin, 4 cronies remanded in case over extortion at CKD hospital

DHAKA, April 13, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today placed one Moin Uddin and his four accomplices on a four-day remand each in a case lodged over extortion attempt at Centre for Kidney Diseases (CKD), Urology, and Hospital at the city's Shyamoli area.

The four other accused are - Md Falan Miah, 42, Md Rubel, 42, Md Sumon, 36, and Md Liton Miah, 38.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam passed the order as police produced the five before the court and pleaded to place them on a seven-day remand each in the case.

According to the case documents, CKD hospital's operation theatre in-charge Md Abu Hanif filed the case on April 11 with the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station for demanding Taka five lakh in extortion. Moin was named as the prime accused, while seven to eight unnamed others were accused in the case.
