DHAKA, Apr 13, 2026 (BSS) - Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy, Anja Kersten, paid a courtesy call on Inspector General of Police (IGP)  Md. Ali Hossain Fakir, at the Police Headquarters today.

During the meeting, Kersten congratulated the newly appointed IGP and highly praised the role of Bangladesh Police in maintaining law and order during the 13th national parliamentary elections.

She expressed Germany’s interest in providing training and technical assistance in several key areas, including crowd control, cyber security, forensic services, security of foreign diplomats, verification of forged documents, and enhancing the capacity of the Central Police Hospital.

Kersten also conveyed greetings from the German Embassy to the IGP.

In response, the IGP welcomed Germany’s willingness to support various units of Bangladesh Police  through training and technical cooperation. 

He emphasized the need for developing skilled manpower to combat cybercrime and sought Germany’s assistance in strengthening Bangladesh Police’s capacity to tackle international terrorism.

Senior police officials were present at the meeting.
