DHAKA, April 13, 2026 (BSS) – A court here today placed former Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) official Major (retd) Manjil Haider Chowdhury on a three-day fresh remand in a case lodged over the killing of hawker Abdul Wadud during the July Mass Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam passed the order as police produced Manjil before the court after the end of his four-day remand and pleaded for a seven-day fresh remand in the case.

The same court on April 10 had earlier placed Manjil on a four-day remand in the case.

Police arrested Chowdhury on April 9 from a house in Mohakhali DOHS in the capital.

According to the case documents, Wadud was shot and killed in the Nilkhet area under New Market Police Station on July 19, 2024. His brother-in-law Abdur Rob filed the case against 130 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader.
