Afroza stresses collective efforts to boost tourism sector

DHAKA, April 14, 2026 (BSS) – Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroz Khanam today urged collective efforts to advance the country’s tourism sector, highlighting unity, cultural identity and coordinated initiatives as key drivers for showcasing Bangladesh globally.

The minister made the call while attending a Pohela Boishakh celebration organised by Bangladesh Tourism Corporation as the chief guest.

Addressing the event, she said the Bengali New Year is not merely a festive occasion marking the beginning of a new calendar year, but also a moment of national reflection and identity.

Emphasising inclusive development, she called upon all stakeholders to work together in a spirit of unity to accelerate national progress and strengthen the tourism industry.

Afroz Khanam said Bangladesh aims to present itself more attractively on the global stage, noting that a vibrant and well-developed tourism sector can play a pivotal role in achieving that goal.

She further underscored the importance of preserving and promoting the country’s rich cultural heritage, saying that embracing national traditions would help Bangladesh move forward with confidence.

Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Fahmida Akhter attended the function as special guest, while Chairman of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation Sayema Shaheen Sultana presided over the event.

Senior officials and employees of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Bangladesh Tourism Corporation and Bangladesh Tourism Board were also present.
