CCC's goal to build it more livable: City Mayor

CHATTOGRAM, June 25, 2026 (BSS)- Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. 
Shahadat Hossain stated that his administration is actively working to 
transition the port city into more livable by prioritizing the development of 
significant roads in the city that have long been neglected and are in a 
state of disrepair. 

The City Corporation aims to alleviate the hardships faced by citizens and to 
create a modern, safe, and livable urban environment, Dr. Shahadat made these 
remarks during the foundation stone laying ceremony for the enhancement of 
Shaheed N.M.M.J Degree College Road and Rajakhali Road in Boxirhat Ward No. 
35 on Thursday. 
 
He noted that residents in these areas have endured prolonged suffering due 
to insufficient infrastructural development. 

The Mayor mentioned that the movement of the general public, including 
students, employees, and businesspeople, has been challenging. 

The initiative to develop these roads has been launched with the intention of 
reducing the hardships of the populace and fostering the overall advancement 
of the region, he added. 

He said development efforts will proceed based on principles of transparency, 
accountability, and strategic planning to fulfill the expectations of the 
community. 

Local public representatives, officials from the City Corporation's 
Engineering Department, political leaders, representatives from educational 
institutions, and local dignitaries attended the foundation stone laying 
ceremony, among others.
