BOGURA, April 16, 2026 (BSS) – The upazila administration has seized approximately 4,000 liters of diesel that were being illegally stored in Saryakandi upazila of the district.

On a tip-off, the upazila administration carried out the operation around 9:30 pm on Wednesday at Lopa Enterprise, owned by Lokman Hakim at Tipur More of the municipal area and seized the fuel.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sumaiya Ferdous, with the assistance of Officer-in-Charge of Sariakandi Police Station AFM Asaduzzaman conducted the drive. However, as the operation unfolded, Hakim managed to flee the scene to avoid arrest.

According to sources within the upazila administration, Lokman Hakim had been selling diesel, petrol, and octane without necessary licenses or government approval for an extended period.

The authorities began selling the seized diesel to the public at the government-regulated price starting Thursday morning. The proceeds from the sales will be deposited directly into the government treasury.

UNO Sumaiya Ferdous confirmed the seizure, stating, “This operation was launched based on credible information regarding the illegal storage. We are committed to maintaining transparency and ensure that such unethical practice do not disrupt the market.”
