BARISHAL, April 26, 2026 (BSS) - Additional Secretary of the Health Service Division Md. Khorshed Alam conducted a field visit to several healthcare facilities in Barishal district today as part of ongoing monitoring efforts for the nationwide Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign.

He began his visit at Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital around 11.00 am, where he held a meeting with the hospital’s director and attending physicians. During the visit, he also inspected multiple wards to assess patient care and overall hospital conditions.

Speaking to journalists after the inspection, Md. Khorshed Alam said, “Measles infections have increased suddenly. However, the situation is gradually improving, and we are hopeful that it will be brought under control soon.”

Addressing concerns about healthcare infrastructure, he assured that existing issues—particularly those related to intensive care units (ICUs)—would be resolved promptly. “The upcoming budget includes increased allocation for the health sector, which will help address current challenges,” he added.

Barishal District Civil Surgeon Dr S M Manzur-Ea-Ealahi, Director of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital Brig Gen Dr AKM Mashiul Munir, and other medical professionals were present.
