Farmer dies in Sirajganj lightning strike

SIRAJGANJ, April 26, 2026 (BSS) - A farmer was killed after being struck by lightning while working in a crop field in Tarash upazila of the district on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Hamid, 50, son of late Gafur Ali of Betrashin village under Madhainagar union of the upazila.

According to local sources, the incident occurred around 4:30 pm. Earlier, Abdul Hamid went to the field near his house amid rain. He was struck by lightning while working and died on the spot.

Tarash Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Habibur Rahman confirmed the matter.
