DHAKA, April 28, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan today said flats for sanitation workers at Gabtoli will be handed over by July end or early August.

He made the remarks after visiting the under-construction housing project and a bypass road near the Gabtoli bus terminal.

The administrator said the project is nearing completion, with 784 flats being built in four 15-storey buildings.

Each 560-square-foot flat will have modern facilities, along with fire safety system.

The complex will also include lifts, a school, mosque, greenery and improved roads.

Inspecting the bypass road, he said inter-district buses will not be allowed inside the city, adding DNCC is taking a strict stance against illegal ticket counters to ease congestion.

Replying to a query on cattle markets ahead of Eid al-Adha, he said sites (haats) were selected considering public convenience and leases will be awarded to the highest bidders following due process.
