19-member coordination committee formed to resolve waterlogging in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, April 30, 2026 (BSS) - The government has formed a 19-member coordination committee to ensure the proper functioning of all canals and drainage channels in Chattogram city, address waterlogging issues, and enhance coordination among various development and service projects.

The committee, outlined in a notification from the Local Government Division on Thursday (April 30), is led by the mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) as the convener, with the Chief Executive Officer of CCC serving as the member secretary. State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam officially handed over the coordination committee’s letter to Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain at the CCC office on Thursday.

The notification stated that the committee will work to ensure the proper functioning of canals and the drainage system in Chattogram Metropolitan City by coordinating with different organisations. It will also oversee important development projects and services that impact public welfare, including efforts to address waterlogging.

The committee will hold meetings as required to assess and coordinate the progress of development initiatives. Furthermore, it will have the authority to provide recommendations to the government on matters crucial to public welfare and may include representatives from various departments or organisations as needed.
