DHAKA, May 04, 2026 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today placed former Feni-3 lawmaker Lt Gen (retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury on a three-day remand in a case filed over the killing of Biplob Sheikh during the July Mass Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasib Ullah Pias passed the order after police produced Chowdhury before the court, seeking a five-day remand.

A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police detained him during a raid in the Baridhara DOHS area of the capital on March 23.

Earlier, Lt Gen (retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury had been placed on remand three times in another case filed over the killing of Delwar Hossain during the July 2024 Mass Uprising.

According to the case documents, Biplob Sheikh joined a rally of the anti-discrimination student movement in the Mirpur-10 area on July 19, 2024. The rally came under attack, and he sustained bullet injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

The case was filed with Mirpur Model Police Station on July 1, 2025.
