DHAKA, June 08, 2026 (BSS)- Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam has extended support to a bullet-hit July fighter who became permanently disabled after being seriously injured during the July mass uprising.

Considering financial hardship of July fighter Sujan, she provided him with immediate financial assistance and assured him of arranging permanent employment in the future.

The deputy commissioner extended the support today after hearing from Sujan about his ordeal at her office.
Sujan said he is now unable to move normally after being injured during the July uprising. Despite being the sole earning member of his family, he remained unemployed due to his physical disability.

He said his family is facing multiple crises as his father has long been bedridden after suffering a stroke, while a divorced sister also depends on the family for support.

At the same time, the financial burden of medical treatment and household expenses has increased as his wife is expecting a child. In this situation, he sought assistance from the deputy commissioner.

After verifying Sujan's statement and necessary documents, Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam provided him with immediate financial assistance.

"The state and society have responsibilities towards those who sacrificed or were injured during the July uprising," Farida Khanam said.

She said the administration is always trying to stand beside them from a humanitarian gound. 

Pointing out Sujan's current condition, the DC said she will take initiative for a permanent job for Sujan in addition to giving him financial support.

The deputy commissioner said the Prime Minister has always stood beside helpless and distressed people and, in continuation of that commitment; the district administration is carrying out its humanitarian responsibilities.

Receiving the financial assistance, an emotional Sujan said, "Life has virtually come to a standstill since I was injured during the July uprising."

"My father is bedridden after a stroke, my sister's marriage has broken down, and my wife is expecting a child," he said.

"Looking at my family, I feel very helpless. I went to many places, but today the deputy commissioner madam listened to me attentively. She not only provided financial assistance but also assured me of arranging employment in the future. This support has brought new hope for my family," he added.

Officials concerned from the Deputy Commissioner's Office were present on the occasion.
