Farmers’ rally, science fair held in Khulna

KHULNA, June 12, 2026 (BSS) – A farmers’ rally and a science fair were held in Rupsa upazila of Khulna today with the aim of promoting modern agricultural technologies, sustainable farming practices and innovative ideas among farmers and students.

The programme, organised by the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Rupsa Upazila, was attended by farmers, agricultural entrepreneurs, agriculture officials and other stakeholders from different parts of the upazila.

Various exhibitions featuring modern agricultural technologies, high-yield crop varieties, farm machinery and innovative farming practices were showcased at the event.

Farmers visited the stalls and gained practical knowledge about advanced agricultural management and technology-based cultivation methods.

Speaking as the chief guest, Khulna-4 Member of Parliament and BNP Central Information Affairs Secretary S.K. Azizul Bari Helal underscored the need for modernizing the country’s agriculture sector to ensure food security.

“To strengthen food security, agriculture must become more technology-driven and modern. Increased training and technological support for farmers will enhance productivity and contribute significantly to the country’s economic development,” he said.

Rupsa UNO Sanjida Rikta presided over the programme.

Among others, Additional Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Subir Kumar Biswas, Senior Monitoring Officer of Partner Programme, Khulna Region, Md. Mosaddek Hossain, and Rupsa Upazila Agriculture Officer Tarun Kumar Bala addressed the gathering.
