CHATTOGRAM, June 21, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladesh Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hassan today urged newly commissioned naval officers to remain imbued with honesty, dedication and self-sacrifice and be ready to make the ultimate sacrifice for safeguarding the country's independence and sovereignty.

He made the call while addressing the Summer Presidential Parade of Midshipman 2023-B and Direct Entry Officer 2026-A batches at the Bangladesh Naval Academy here, said an ISPR press release this afternoon.

The Navy Chief said Bangladesh Navy is playing a vital role in protecting maritime sovereignty, safeguarding marine resources, combating crimes at sea, providing humanitarian assistance during disasters and performing duties under ‘Aid to Civil Power’.

He said Navy-operated shipyards, dockyards and CNRD are working to develop indigenous technology and build maritime platforms under the "Made in Bangladesh" policy.

Efforts are also underway to induct helicopters, unmanned aircraft, modern warships and advanced maritime platforms, while shore-based surveillance systems, electronic warfare centres and anti-drone systems are being installed to enhance naval capabilities, the release added.

A total of 61 officers, including 54 midshipmen and seven direct-entry officers, received commissions through the parade. Among them were five women and two foreign officers.

Midshipman Md Intisar Islam Inan received the "Sword of Honour" as the best all-round midshipman.

The newly commissioned officers later took oath to defend the country's independence and sovereignty.
