
KHULNA, June 21, 2026 (BSS) - Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Khulna Hoore Jannat
on Sunday directed all concerned authorities to complete development projects
within their stipulated time frames in line with the Prime Minister's
instructions.
She also instructed government offices to regularly update their respective
web portals.
The DC said this while presiding over the monthly (June) Khulna District
Development Coordination Committee meeting at the Dc's conference room here
today.
Emphasising water resource management, she said river restoration and canal
excavation activities should be given priority and that accurate progress
reports on canal dredging works must be submitted.
She further informed the meeting that compensation cheques for land acquired
under the embankment realignment project in Paikgachha would be distributed
on June 29.
A representative of the Civil Surgeon's Office reported that from March 15 to
June 21, a total of 929 patients suspected of measles had been admitted to
different hospitals across the district, of whom 884 had recovered and
returned home.
Currently, 45 patients with measles symptoms are undergoing treatment, the
Civil Surgeon's Office representative added.
Deputy Director (DD) of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Md.
Nazrul Islam said financial assistance would be provided to 15,000 farmers
during the Aman season.
As part of a nationwide programme to plant 25 crore trees over the next five
years, 70,450 saplings will be planted in Khulna district.
Aman cultivation prospects were satisfactory and that a three-day fruit fair
would be held in Khulna from June 25 to 27, the DAE DD added.
District Fisheries Officer Md. Badiuzzaman informed the meeting that 11
drives and three mobile court operations had been conducted under the Fish
Conservation Act during the past month, resulting in fines amounting to
nearly Taka 1 lakh.
The Assistant Director of the Islamic Foundation said construction work on
the Paikgachha Model Mosque had reached 97 percent completion.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Bitaan Kumar Mondal, upazila
executive officers, officials from various government departments and
committee members attended the meeting.
