Woman arrested at Cox's Bazar Airport with 9,825 Yaba pills

COX'S BAZAR, June 21, 2026 (BSS) - Airport authorities in Cox's Bazar today arrested a female passenger carrying 9,825 Yaba tablets while attempting to travel to Dhaka.

She was arrested around 9:00 am at the domestic terminal of Cox's Bazar Airport during routine baggage screening for Dhaka-bound passengers.

The detained passenger has been identified as Jesmin Akter, daughter of Harun Mia from Narayanhat area in Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram district.

Airport Manager Mohammad Golam Murtuza confirmed the incident, saying that suspicious items were detected in the woman's checked luggage during X-ray screening before boarding a Novoair flight to Dhaka.

During the search, authorities found several packets hidden inside foam compartments on both sides of a laptop bag. After counting, a total of 9,825 Yaba tablets were recovered, concealed in a sophisticated manner.

Airport authorities immediately detained the woman on the spot and handed her over to the Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station for legal action.
Officer-in-Charge of Sheikh Mohammad Ali confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused over possession of illegal drugs.
