JASHORE, June 29, 2026 (BSS) - The 153rd death anniversary of eminent poet Michael Madhusudan Dutt was observed in Jashore today through various 
programmes.

The programmes were held at Sagardari, the poet's ancestral home in Keshabpur upazila here.

In the morning, the Keshabpur Upazila administration, Madhusudan Academy and various social and cultural organisations paid tribute to the poet by placing 
wreaths at his bust.

Later, in the noon, a discussion on the life and works of the poet was held at the Madhusudan Academy.

Head of the Bangla department at Khulna University Dr Md Dulal Hossain spoke as the chief guest and highlighted different aspects of the life and literary 
contributions of Michael Madhusudan Dutt with Chairman of the Madhusudan Academy Asaduzzaman Selim in the chair.

Director of the Madhusudan Academy Khasru Parvez, Assistant Professor of Abu Sharaf Sadeq Commerce and Technical College at Sagardari KanailaBhattacharya, Deputy Director of the Madhusudan Academy poet Makbul Mahfuz, Publicity and Publication Secretary Taheruzzaman, and President of Keshabpur Press Club Ashrafuzzaman Khan addressed the programme.

A poetry recitation of Michael Madhusudan Dutt's works and a cultural programme were held at the same venue in the afternoon following the discussion.
