DHAKA, June 30, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) today carried out an eviction drive and mobile court operation at Dhanmondi Lake to remove illegal encroachments and improve public access to the area.

The drive, led by DSCC Executive Magistrate Mohammad Aminul Islam, targeted unauthorized temporary structures, tea stalls, and hawkers operating in violation of lease conditions around the lake and its adjoining areas, according to a DSCC press release.

During the operation, the illegal establishments were removed, leaving the lake area cleaner and more accessible for visitors.

Authorities also filed four cases and collected Tk 3,000 in fines from individuals found illegally occupying footpaths and public spaces for business.

Aminul Islam said the monitoring and enforcement activities would continue to ensure public convenience and preserve the lake's aesthetic environment.

DSCC said it would regularly conduct mobile court operations and eviction drives to keep the city's open spaces, footpaths and roads free from illegal encroachment.
