Sincerity, not power, enough to serve people: Mir Helal

CHATTOGRAM, July 2, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin today said serving the people requires neither public office nor government power, but sincerity and dedication.

He made the remarks while inaugurating the "Month-long Tree Plantation and Distribution Programme 2026' at the Research and Farm-based Campus of Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) in Hathazari this afternoon.

The Chattogram Divisional Unit of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation organised the event to mark the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.

Mir Helal, also a director of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation, said, "Our Prime Minister Tarique Rahman established the foundation to serve humanity. The foundation aims to empower marginalized people and provide them with assistance. Since its inception, every initiative of the organisation has been dedicated to the welfare of marginalized communities and the overall development of the nation."

Earlier, the state minister inaugurated the month-long programme by planting a neem sapling.

Prof Dr Md Ahsanul Haque, Director of the One Health Institute of CVASU, presided over the event, while Chattogram University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Al Forkan and CVASU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Lutfur Rahman attended as special guests.
