
DHAKA, July 12, 2026 (BSS) – One more person died of dengue and 350 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the 24 hours ending Sunday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
A press release issued by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the DGHS today said the latest fatality raised the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 25 this year.
Of the newly hospitalised patients, 95 were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 31 in Chattogram division, 31 in Dhaka division (outside the city corporations), 53 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 44 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 17 in Mymensingh division, four in Rajshahi division, one in Rangpur division, four in Sylhet division and 70 in Khulna division.
During the same period, 279 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, bringing the total number of recoveries to 7,570 this year.
The DGHS data showed that a total of 8,323 dengue cases have been reported across the country since January. Of them, 61.1 percent are male and 38.9 percent are female.
According to official figures, Bangladesh recorded 102,861 dengue cases and 413 deaths from the disease in 2025.
In 2024, the country reported 101,214 dengue infections and 575 related deaths.
