Seven-member committee formed to expedite disposal of mobile court appeals

DHAKA, July 12, 2026 (BSS) - The government has formed a seven-member committee to expedite the disposal of appeals, revisions and references relating to sentences awarded in cases conducted under the Mobile Court Act and relevant provisions.

The information was disclosed in a notification issued today by the Committee Affairs Branch of the Cabinet Division.

The notification was signed by Additional Secretary (Committee and Economic) Mohammed Humayun Kabir.

According to the notification, the committee, titled the "Committee for Providing Expedited Recommendations on Mobile Court Activities," will be chaired by the Adviser to the Ministry of Public Administration.

The members of the committee are the State Minister for the Ministry of Public Administration, the Cabinet Secretary, the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, the Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Secretary of the Finance Division and the Secretary of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division.

The notification stated that the term "Secretary" will also include "Senior Secretary."

The committee's principal responsibility will be to provide necessary recommendations for the expeditious disposal of appeals, revisions and references against sentences awarded by mobile courts.

The committee will also formulate recommendations to ensure supportive arrangements, necessary logistics and other ancillary assistance for the operation of mobile courts.

If necessary, the committee will have the authority to invite representatives from relevant ministries, divisions, departments and other institutions to its meetings.

The District and Field Administration Wing of the Cabinet Division will provide secretarial support to the committee.

According to the notification, the order constituting the committee has come into effect immediately.
