DHAKA, July 12, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Railway has restored train services
on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar railway after completing emergency repairs to
the damaged Janalihat-Sholashahar section, which was affected by heavy
rainfall and flash floods.

As a result, train services on the Dhaka-Cox's Bazar and Chattogram-Cox's
Bazar routes resumed normal operations from today, said a press release.

Continuous heavy rainfall and flash floods over the past few days inundated
the railway track between Janalihat and Sholashahar stations, rendering the
section temporarily unfit for train operations and disrupting rail services.

Following an improvement in the flood situation, Bangladesh Railway undertook
immediate repair work on the damaged track. Through round-the-clock efforts,
the Janalihat-Sholashahar section was made operational within a short time,
it said.

As part of the resumption of services, the Parjatak Express, which left Dhaka
this afternoon, continued its journey from Chattogram to Cox's Bazar after
crossing the repaired section.

Bangladesh Railway said all trains on the Dhaka-Cox's Bazar, Chattogram-Cox's
Bazar, Cox's Bazar-Chattogram and Cox's Bazar-Dhaka routes will operate
according to their regular schedules from today.

The railway authorities expressed regret for the temporary disruption to
passenger services caused by the sudden natural disaster and thanked
passengers for their patience and cooperation.
