DHAKA, July 15, 2026 (BSS) – State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku, MP, today said an integrated list of entrepreneurs across the country's fisheries and livestock sectors will be prepared to ensure the sustainable development of the sectors.

He said productivity would increase, extensive employment opportunities would be created and the country's food security would be further strengthened if educated young people came forward in commercial and science-based farm management.

The state minister made the remarks while participating in a virtual meeting with divisional directors of the Department of Fisheries and the Department of Livestock Services at the conference room of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, said a ministry release.

He said divisional directors and district and upazila-level officials would have to collect information and work to address problems by preparing a national database of farmers and entrepreneurs associated with the fisheries and livestock sectors across the country.

The state minister said educated entrepreneurs manage farms in a planned manner and use fertiliser, feed and other inputs according to necessity, resulting in lower production costs and higher profitability.

On the other hand, he said, unplanned use of inputs increases production costs and causes financial losses for farmers.

He said that after the list is prepared, a series of exchange of views meetings with farmers would be held on a divisional basis. At those meetings, their opinions on problems, prospects, obstacles and necessary measures would be taken directly, making it easier to formulate realistic policies and action plans.

The state minister mentioned the government is sincerely committed to the development of the sector, saying Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has laid emphasis on increasing the number of entrepreneurs in the country, creating employment opportunities and boosting production.

To achieve that goal, he said, the government is working to further strengthen the fisheries and livestock sectors.

He directed the officials to collect accurate information on farmers and prepare the list promptly, urging them to carry out the task with sincerity.

Among others, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Additional Secretary Md Imam Uddin Kabir, Additional Secretary Syeda Nowara Jahan, Department of Fisheries Director General Dr Md Khaled Kanak, and Department of Livestock Services Director Dr Md Boyzar Rahman were present.

Divisional directors of the Department of Fisheries and the Department of Livestock Services joined the meeting virtually.
