BAGERHAT, July 18, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh National Parliament (BNP) Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal today said that private and social initiatives are playing an important role in providing healthcare to the doorsteps of the helpless and underprivileged people of the society.

“Healthcare is a fundamental right of a person. To make medical services accessible to the poor and marginalized people, the participation of individuals and social organizations is very important, along with government initiatives,” he said.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a day-long free eye camp and specialist medical camp organized by the Latif Master Foundation here today.

The deputy speaker urged wealthy and capable people of the society to come forward to further expand such humanitarian activities.

“Our commitment should not be to just earn money and buy houses and cars abroad, but to work for the welfare of the people of the country,” he said, praising the initiative taken by the Latif Master Foundation founder Md. Rafiqul Islam Jaglu.

In the day-long medical camp, about 1,500 people received free specialist treatment, health consultation and eye examination services.

Local leaders and officials from the district administration were present during the inauguration of the medical camp.

The organizers said that such free medical activities will continue in the future to serve humanity.
