90 held in multiple anti-crime raids in Dhaka

DHAKA, July 21, 2026 - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested a total of 90 people in a series of coordinated anti-crime drives across the capital

It also seized 11,800 yaba tablets and 99 bottles of Indian-made contraband liquor, police said on today.

The largest operation was conducted by DMP's Tejgaon Division, where 62 suspects were arrested during regular raids in crime-prone areas on Monday. 

The detainees included suspects from Tejgaon, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Mohammadpur, Adabar, Tejgaon Industrial Area and Hatirjheel police stations. 
One child in conflict with the law was also detained.

In separate operations, Mugda Police Station arrested nine people and Jatrabari Police Station detained 16 suspects during special drives carried 
out in their respective jurisdictions on Monday.

Meanwhile, Sabujbagh Police Station arrested one person during a raid in Southgaon's Nandipara area and recovered 99 bottles of Indian-made contraband 
liquor. 

A case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act.

In another major anti-narcotics operation, Uttara West Police Station arrested two alleged drug traffickers in Abdullahpur and seized 11,800 yaba 
tablets along with Taka 10,000 in cash. 

Police said the suspects admitted during preliminary interrogation that they had stored the drugs for sale. 

One of the accused has two previous cases, while the other has one.

All arrested individuals have either been produced before the court.

Police said anti-crime and anti-narcotics operations will continue to maintain law and order in the capital.
