
DHAKA, July 22, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has expelled Satkhira-4 Member of Parliament Gazi Nazrul Islam from the party over allegations of moral misconduct and decided to immediately inform the Bangladesh Election Commission of the decision.
The decision was announced in a press release signed by Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General and Secretary of its Central Publicity and Media Department, Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer today.
According to the release, the decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the party's Central Executive Council held this afternoon at the official residence of the Leader of the Opposition on Minto Road in the capital.
The meeting was chaired by Jamaat Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman, MP and attended by members of the Central Executive Council.
The release said an organisational investigation into various recent media reports concerning Gazi Nazrul Islam found evidence of moral misconduct.
"Based on the findings, the Central Executive Council decided to expel Gazi Nazrul Islam from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami under Article 62 of the party's constitution," it said.
The party also decided to immediately notify the Bangladesh Election Commission of his expulsion, the release added.
