BSS journo Sadi receives int'l Earth Journalism Network fellowship

DHAKA, July 22, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Staff Reporter Al Sadi Bhuiyan has been awarded the international fellowship titled "Non-Economic Loss and Damage Due to Climate Change in the Bay of Bengal Coastal Region 2026" by the Earth Journalism Network (EJN), an international environmental journalism organisation.

Under the fellowship, which brings together selected journalists from different countries, he will produce an investigative report on non-economic loss and damage (NELD) caused by climate change in the Bay of Bengal coastal region.

The report will highlight the long-term impacts of climate change on culture, social cohesion, displacement, mental health, livelihoods and women in coastal communities.

At present, Al Sadi covers the Anti-Corruption Commission, environment, forests, climate change and migration for BSS.

He completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in Anthropology from the University of Dhaka. He also served as president of the Dhaka University Journalists' Association (DUJA).

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) provides fellowships, grants, training and editorial support to journalists from different countries to produce high-quality investigative reports on environmental and climate issues.
