DHAKA, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested 72 people during separate anti-crime operations in the Motijheel division, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said today.

The arrests were made on Monday in crime-prone areas under seven police stations in the division, according to a DMP press release.

Motijheel police arrested eight people, while Paltan police detained 20, Sabujbagh five, Khilgaon 19, Rampura three, Shahjahanpur five and Mugda 12.

The detainees were arrested for alleged involvement in various criminal activities, police said, without providing details of the specific offences.

All 72 suspects have been sent to court, said the DMP press release.
