
DHAKA, Sept 9, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court has fined the owner of an illegal fertilizer factory Taka one lakh and sealed the factory during a raid at Kalindi Union in the city's Keraniganj area.
The factory, located at Godarbagh area, was found illegally producing adulterated TSP and DAP fertilizers. The owner, Md. Jamal, was fined Taka 100,000, while the factory was sealed and all materials found there were seized.
The upazila administration disclosed the information in a press release on Wednesday afternoon.
The joint operation was conducted from 8.00pm to 11.00pm on Tuesday, led by Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, assistant commissioner (Land) and executive magistrate of Keraniganj Model Upazila.
Talking to BSS, Saiful Islam said factory owner Md. Jamal was detained during the raid. During preliminary interrogation, he admitted that he had been producing TSP, DAP and other fertilizers illegally without any approval or compliance with government rules and regulations.
He said the adulterated fertilizers were subsequently sold in different parts of the country for use mainly in the agriculture and fisheries sectors.
The upazila administration said such anti-adulteration drives will continue to protect the agriculture and fisheries sectors.
