DHAKA, Mar 4, 2025 (BSS) - Sheltech Cricket Academy Women's team clinched their fifth straight victory in the Women's Dhaka Premier League (WDPL) by securing a 64-run win over Gulshan Youth Club Women's Cricket team at Bashundhara Sports Complex today.

Having done so, they moved to the top of the point table, replacing Mohammedan Sporting Club.

Captain Nigar Sultana Joty, who is also the captain of the national team, led the charge with 80 off 107, hammering nine boundaries as Sheltech posted 194-8 in 50 overs.

The total might be moderate but Sheltech defended it astutely by holding Gulshan Youth Club back to 130-9 in 39.2 overs with the last batter Suraiya Azim unable to bat due to injury.

Opener Juairiya Ferdous was the only batter to make some resistance with 56 runs.

Jannatul Ferdous Sumona, however, wrecked havoc on Gulshan women's team by snaring 5-31.

In the day's other match, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP snapped their five-match losing streak with a 65-run win over Bangladesh Police Cricket Club Women's team at BKSP-1 ground. While Ansar finally got some point, Police extended its losing streak to five.

Opting to bat first Ansar compiled a moderate 199-8 but defended the total by dismissing Police for 134 in 42.2 overs.
