DHAKA, March 5, 2025 (BSS)- Muktar Ali set an unwanted record during his side
Partex Sporting Club's match against Shinepukur Cricket Club in a Dhaka
Premier League (DPL) match.
His side lost the game by 77 runs, largely due to his wayward bowling.
Put into bat first, Shinepukur posted 298-5, of which the batter took 99 runs
from Muktar's nine overs.
It was the second worst bowling in Bangladesh's List A cricket history,
behind 104 runs conceded by Iqbal Hossain and Shahadat Hossain Rajib.
Iqbal, a young pacer of Gazi Tyres Cricket Academy leaked 104 runs in 9 overs
against Abahani Limited in the last season of DPL. Shahadat Rajib, who was
more established than Iqbal as a bowler, conceded 104 runs in 10 overs during
Bangladesh A team's game against South Africa A in 2011.
Muktar, who is a DPL veteran, was unable to find his rhythm against a
whirlwind batting of Shinepukur's young batters-- Jubair Hossain, Anik Sarkar
and Rayan Rafsan Rahman.
Jubair struck Muktar four sixes in the 49th over. Overall Muktar conceded
seven sixes in his nine overs.
Captain Rayan Rafsan was the top-scorer for Shinepukur with 81 ball-87 while
Anik Sarkar made 77 off 78. Jubair was not out on 39 after playing just 14
balls.
