DHAKA, March 6, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has extended heartfelt thanks today to Mushfiqur Rahim for his outstanding contributions to the nation's One-Day International (ODI) cricket, following his announcement to retire from the format.

Mushfiqur, one of Bangladesh's most accomplished cricketers, bids farewell to ODIs after an illustrious career spanning nearly two decades. He had previously retired from T20 cricket in 2022 but will continue representing Bangladesh in Test matches.

In a press release, the BCB lauded Mushfiqur's unwavering dedication, professionalism, and passion for the game, recognizing his vital role in shaping Bangladesh's ODI cricket.

"Mushfiqur Rahim's work ethic, resilience, and determination serve as an inspiration for future generations," BCB President Faruque Ahmed was quoted in the press release, expressing his admiration and appreciation for Mushfiqur's contributions.
"His name will always be etched in Bangladesh's finest ODI moments. Playing at the highest level for 19 years is a remarkable feat that speaks volumes about his consistency and character," the BCB boss said.

The BCB chief also expressed confidence that Mushfiqur would continue to make valuable contributions to cricket, both on and off the field.

"I am certain he still has much to offer to cricket, and we look forward to him continuing to set standards both on and off the field."

Mushfiqur retires as Bangladesh's most-capped ODI player, having represented the country in 274 matches. He amassed 7,795 runs, making him the second-highest run-scorer in Bangladesh's ODI history. Behind the stumps, he holds the record as the nation's most successful wicketkeeper, with 243 catches and 56 stumpings.

Additionally, Mushfiqur captained Bangladesh in 37 ODIs and is among the few cricketers to have played in five ICC ODI World Cup tournaments.
