Umpire Gazi Sohel falls in BKSP before DPL match

DHAKA, April 9, 2025 (BSS)-Umpire Gazi Sohel today fell ill shortly after the toss of the match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Agrani Bank in a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match at BSKP-3 ground.

Sohel, also ICC Internatiponal umpire was then taken to BKSP's medical centre for treatment. Fourth umpire Saifuddin Ahmed was given the responsibility to take over his role.

Sohel began to feel unwell after conducting the toss. He reportedly tried to rest but complained of dizziness. Match referee Debabrata Paul subsequently advised that he be transported by ambulance to the on-site medical facility.

A few days, veteran cricketer Tamim Iqbal, who was leading Mohammedan Sporting Club, fell ill at the same venue.

Tamim eventually survived after quick medical intervention following a heart attack.
