Seven-star Rakibul demolishes SA Emerging team

DHAKA, May 22, 2025 (BSS) - Left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan claimed a seven-wicket haul as Bangladesh Men's Emerging team kept them aloft over South African counterpart on Day 3 of the first four-day game at Bir Shrestha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram today.

His seven-for was key in wrapping up South Africa for 243 in the first innings, and handing the side a crucial 65-run lead. At stumps, Bangladesh though lost two wickets for five runs, they extended the lead to 70 runs.

Bangladesh were bowled out for 308 in its first innings.

South Africa resumed the Day 3 at 149-3 and looked favourite to take the lead. But Rakibul intervened, catching them in spin-web to give Bangladesh the stranglehold.

George Marthinus Van Heerden was the top-scorer for the side with 63 while Onkgomoditse Richard Seletswane and Andile Charles scored 43 runs each.

Ripon Mondol took 2-58 to complement Rakibuls' effort.
