LONDON, July 14, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been fined 15 percent of his match fee for the 'send-off' he gave England batter Ben Duckett in the ongoing third Test at Lord's, the International Cricket Council announced Monday.

Siraj was sanctioned for celebrating excessively at close proximity to the opening batsman after dismissing Duckett in England's second innings on Sunday. 

The India quick was found to have breached article 2.5 of the ICC code of conduct for players, which relates to "using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an international match".

In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to the disciplinary record of Siraj, for whom it was the second offence in a 24-month period.
Siraj received his earlier demerit point during the second Test against Australia in Adelaide on December 7, 2024.

Siraj admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Richie Richardson, the match referee, so there was no need for a formal hearing.
When a player reaches four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, they are converted into suspension points and a player is banned.

Two suspension points equate to a ban from one Test or two one-day internationals or two T20s, whatever comes first for the player.
