DHAKA, July 15, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) today (Tuesday) handed over second phase cheque of Taka five lakh to the country's chess icon Grandmaster late Ziaur Rahman Zia's family.

Director General (DG) of BOA Brigadier General (retd) ABM Shefaul Kabir handed over the cheque for Taka five lakh to Zia's wife Tasmin Sultana Labanya at the BOA Bhaban here.
 
Zia's only son, also a chess player, Tahsin Tajwar Zia was present at that time.
 
Earlier on June 17 last, in first phase, BOA provided financial assistance of Taka five Lakh to the family of late GM Ziaur Rahman.

Zia has participated in the highest number of Chess Olympiads for the country. 

In Chess, he is also the highest number of national champions. The country's chess icon has won more than a hundred champion trophies both at home and abroad.
