Bangladesh Int’l Squash Open begins Saturday

DHAKA, July 24, 2025 (BSS) - The 6th Bangladesh International Squash Open begins in Dhaka from July 26.

The four-day game will be held at Army Squash Complex, Army Office Mess and Independent University Squash Court, officials said.

The opening ceremony of the competition will be held at the Dhaka Cantonment Squash Complex.

Approved by the Bangladesh government as well as the World Squash Federation (WSF) and the Professional Squash Association (PSA), the game will feature two exciting international competitions, namely- "PSA Challenge Tour 2025" for boys and "WSF and PSA Satellite Tournament 2025" for girls.

Ahead of the tournament, the trophy unveiling ceremony was held at the Bangladesh Olympic Association Auditorium today. 

Youth and Sports Secretary Mahbub-Ul-Alam was the chief guest in the trophy unveiling ceremony while Bangladesh Squash Rackets Federation general secretary Brig Gen G M Quamrul Islam (retd) was in the chair.

Eight professional squash players from Iran, India, Sri Lanka, Kuwait and Malaysia will compete while Bangladesh national team's players Shahadat, Rony and Suman, and the emerging squash players of the age-level team, BKSP's Saimun, Aminul, Parvez, and the Army's Apan and Aziz will participate in the tournament.

In addition, in the women's satellite tour, thirteen top female players, including Bangladesh's Marjan, Chandni, Nabila, Urdu, Meghna, Jui, Manika and Pooja Rani will play against Malaysian twin sister professional female squash players Vinika and Vartika, and Iranian player Ramzanzadeh Namini Nargol.

It can be mentionable that Bangladesh Squash Federation has formed women's squash team for the first time since independence. They recently won a silver medal in an international competition in Nepal.
