Bangladesh Int'l Squash Open inaugurated

DHAKA, July 26, 2025 (BSS)- The 6th Bangladesh International Squash Open was inaugurated at the Dhaka Cantonment Squash Complex in the capital today (Saturday).

Bangladesh Squash Racket Federation (BSRF) president and engineer-in-chief of Bangladesh Army Major General Hasan-Uz-Zaman formally opened the four-day meet as the chief guest.

Speaking as the chief guest in the opening ceremony Major General Hasan-Uz-Zaman said with limited resources and facilities, the squash federation is working to revive the game of squash in Bangladesh and take it forward.

He expressed optimism that if this trend can be continued, squash would move forward further in the future and bring honor to Bangladesh.

BSRF general secretary Brigadier (retd) General GM Quamrul Islam, who was present there, said this competition would give an idea of the preparation of the participating team for the South Asian Games. The famous Olympic Games of South Asia, to be held in January next year. 

Approved by the Bangladesh government as well as the World Squash Federation (WSF) and the Professional Squash Association (PSA), the tournaments are feature two exciting international competitions, namely- "PSA Challenge Tour 2025" for boys' and "WSF and PSA Satellite Tournament 2025" for girls'.

The twin tournament is being held at Army Squash Complex, Army Office Mess and Independent University Squash Court. Professional squash players from Bangladesh, Iran, India, Sri Lanka, Kuwait and Malaysia are participating in the tournament.
