National boxing meet begins tomorrow

DHAKA, July 26, 2025 (BSS) - The 31st National Senior Men's and 7th National Women's Boxing Championships begins at Muhammad Ali Boxing Stadium in the capital tomorrow (Sunday).

National Sports Council Secretary Aminul Islam is expected to inaugurate the four-day meet as the chief guest, organized by Bangladesh Boxing Federation.

Seventy one teams -- several district sports associations and affiliated clubs, universities, education board, city corporations and services teams -- will participate in the national competition.

New York based Bangladeshi boxer Zinnat Ferdous will take part in the National boxing championship for the first time. The American expatriate boxer will compete in 52 kg weight category. 

The Bangladesh Boxing Federation will accord Zinnat a reception on the closing day of the competition on July 30 for her recent international success. The Goodwill Club is bearing Zinnat travel and incidental expenses.

Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain is expected to present in the closing ceremony as the chief guest and distribute the prizes.

BBF general secretary MA Quddus Khan disclosed it at a press conference held at BBF office room today (Saturday).

BBF president Lt. Colonel M.A. Latif Khan (retd.), were, among others, present in the press conference.
