DHAKA, July 26, 2025 (BSS)—Bangladesh is likely to play a series against Nepal or Netherlands in August to prepare them for the upcoming Asia Cup.

The August window was left vacant for Bangladesh after India postponed their white-ball tour consisting three ODIs and as many T20Is here.

Cricket Operations Chairman Nazmul Abedeen Fahim revealed the name of those two countries as Bangladesh’s probable opponents while speaking to the media today.

“No big team is available at the moment. Because they are busy with their commitment,” Fahim said here today at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

“We think we can play against other countries. It could be like Netherlands and Nepal or some such country. We are trying at this moment.'

Bangladesh cricketers had just ended a 40-day of continuous cricket after the home series against Pakistan. They will have at least two weeks rest before coming back to usual business.

After winning the series against Pakistan, captain Liton Das also said that it would be good for them if the BCB can arrange a series ahead of the Asia Cup.

“We’ll try our best to arrange a series. But if it is not possible, the national team is scheduled to play a series with the 'A' team or HP. They will also have a three-week preparation camp,” Fahim informed.

The schedule of the Asia Cup has not yet been finalized. However, Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that the tournament will be held in the United Arab Emirates from September 9- 28. Eight teams, including Bangladesh, will participate in the regional tournament.
