DHAKA, July 31, 2025 (BSS)—After winning the first two matches with quite ease, Bangladesh Under-19 team experienced a defeat for the first time in the tri-nation series when they conceded a five-wicket loss to South Africa at Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe today.

Bangladesh’s youngsters’ defeat looked imminent when they were bundled for 175 in 44.5 overs. South Africa overhauled the target in 36.5 overs, albeit some hiccup.

Armaan Manack led the charge with 78 ball-57, an innings laced with seven boundaries. Captain Jason Rowels contributed 41 while opener Muhammed Bulbulia scored 39.

Bangladesh pacer Al Fahad continued his rich vein of form, taking 3-29 but yet was unable to win his side.

Earlier, captain Azizul Hakim Tamim hit a gritty half-century as Bangladesh U19 side recovered from a collapse to post 175 before being all out.

Hakim made 59 off 81 with the help of five fours and two sixes. Kalam Siddiki was not out 49 and helped the side take past 150 as Bangladesh youngsters lost wickets at regular interval after the departure of Hakim.

Only three Bangladeshi batters could reach double digits with Rizan Hossain being the other one with 17.

Ntando Soni and Bayanda Majole picked up two wickets apiece to jolt the innings after Bangladesh elected to bat first.
