DHAKA, Aug 2, 2025 (BSS)- The three-day Level-1 coaching workshop, organized by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) got a huge response as the former cricketers and people from various cricketing organizations have shown their interest to hone their coaching skill.
BCB's Head of Operations, Game Development, Habibul Bashar Sumon said that interest in the coaching profession is increasing in the country, which is a positive sign for the development of cricket.
"To spread cricket, it is not enough to just play cricket, it is very important to be educated and read about cricket," Bashar said here today.
"So those who are coming here (to take the course) actually work at the grassroots level. If we can give them proper training, upgrade them a little, it will be useful for Bangladesh cricket at the end of the day," he further said, adding that they BCB will hold more such seminars in the future.
Bashar said that the former cricketers interest in coaching job is also noteworthy. He said when country's former cricketers take coaching as profession, it will help the country to reach greater heights as a cricketing nation.
"Quality coaching is very important. Our seminar this time is an attempt to unearth this. I have not seen so many of our cricketers come for coaching before," Bashar, also the former Bangladesh skipper said.
"In fact, even 5/10 years ago, I would not have wanted to come to coaching so much. Now I see many people who want to come to coaching after finishing their first-class career.''
He also assured that the BCB will stand by them and will take them forward with timely decisions.
''Many CVs have been submitted for the Level-1 course. Many CVs have been submitted, meaning first-class players who are still playing or will play for another two years want to come to coaching," he informed.
"If we can produce good coaches, then they will definitely get calls from abroad. But my main concern is how can we make better coaches in our cricket, how can we provide good coaching ther
