Clubs hold protest rally demanding start of PFL

DHAKA, Aug 6, 2025 (BSS)- The budding footballers and officials of the 
concerned clubs on Wednesday held a protest rally in front of the Bangladesh 
Football Federation (BFF) Bhaban demanding immediate start of the Pioneer 
Football League (PFL), said a press release.

The PFL was last held in 2021 and after that this league did not take place 
again. Mohidur Rahman Miraj, the then chairman of the PFL, could not make 
this league regular.

The BFF election was held last year. BFF member Haji Tipu Sultan was given 
the responsibility of chairman of the PFL committee. It is learned that he is 
trying to restore this big league.

At the protest rally, Gazi Selim, the head of Gazi Selim Football Academy, 
said: "We have taken to the street today to start this league quickly. If our 
demand is not met, then we'll go to a greater movement."

Shahadat Hossain, vice-president of Laiju Kids Football Academy, 
said:"Despite having the opportunity, young boys are growing up without 
playing football. The latent desire of many young footballers to become stars 
is no longer blossoming. In the last four years, many have been deprived of 
becoming star footballers, so our demand to BFF to start PFL this year."
