DHAKA, Nov 12, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana was fined 25 per cent of his match fee for his misconduct during the opening day of the first Test against Ireland in Sylhet on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in the 27th over of Ireland's innings, when Nahid fielded the ball on his follow-through and threw it inappropriately, hitting batter Cade Carmichael's pads even though the batter had not moved out of the crease.

The fast bowler was found to have breached Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to "throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment) at or near a player in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner during an International Match," an ICC press release said.

In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to Nahid's disciplinary record, for whom it was the first offence in 24 months.

Nahid accepted the sanction proposed by Andy Pycroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing.

On-field umpires Sam Nogajski and Ahsan Raza, third umpire Richard Illingworth and fourth umpire Tanvir Ahmed levelled the charge.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player's match fee, and one or two demerit points.
