India, Zanzibar women's kabaddi teams now in city

DHAKA, Nov 14, 2025 (BSS)- India and Zanzibar women's kabaddi teams arrived in the capital today (Friday) to take part in the 2nd Women's Kabaddi World Cup scheduled to be held at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur from November 17 to 24. 

Overall preparations have been made to make the World Cup a success. The utmost importance has been given to the safety of the players, accommodation, transportation and venue management in all areas.

After a prolong thirteen years gap, the Women's Kabaddi World Cup is going to be held in Dhaka after the first edition of the World Cup was held in Patna, India in 2012.

In the first edition, Bangladesh lost to Japan in the quarterfinals. India became the champions and Iran became the runners-up.

The Bangladesh women's kabaddi team has been taking preparation for the Women's Kabaddi World Cup for a long time. As part of the preparations, the Bangladesh team toured to Nepal to play a five-match kabaddi test series. 

Ahead of the World Cup, the Bangladesh eve kabaddi team has been undergoing training under the supervision of coaches Shahnaz Parveen Maleka and Arduzzaman Munshi at BKSP in Savar.
