Bangladesh thrash Oman 13-0 in Hockey Jr. World Cup

DHAKA, Dec 4, 2025 (BSS) - Amirul Islam continued his prolific show scoring again a brilliant hat-trick as spirited Bangladesh U-21 hockey team thrashed Oman by 13-0 goals in the 17th-24th classification round of FIH Hockey Men's Junior World Cup held at Madurai International Hockey Stadium in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India today.

Apart from Amirul's hat-trick with five goals in the 11th, 15th, 15th, 34th and 53rd minutes, Rakibul hasan also scored hat-trick with three goals in the 19th, 35th and 47th minutes and Abdullah and Saju supported them with two goals each in the 33rd and 47th and 51st and 60th goals respectively while Obahidul Hasan Joy netted a lone goal for Bangladesh in the 40th minutes in the one-sided affairs.

It was also the third hat-trick for Amurul in the ongoing World Cup. 

Earlier, in the group phase, Bangladesh U-21 hockey team suffered a fighting 5-3 goals defeat to strong Australia in their opening group match, despite a magnificent hat-trick by Aminul Islam. 

They also came from behind to hold South Korea by 3-3 draw in their group second match.

The boys and red and green again put up a brave performance conceding 3-2 defeat to against reigning runners-up France in their third and ultimate group match.
