SAOC retain Pakistan as host nation for 14th SA Games

DHAKA, Jan 28, 2026 (BSS) - The South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) has 
retained Pakistan as the host nation for the 14th South Asian Games scheduled 
to be held from March 23 to 31 next year, said a Bangladesh Olympic 
Association (BOA) press release today.

The decision was unanimously taken during the meeting attended by SAOC 
members on the sidelines of the 46th General Assembly of the Olympic Council 
of Asia (OCA) held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Tuesday last.

The SAOC meeting was chaired by Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, vice president 
of the OCA and president of the Bhutan Olympic Committee.

The meeting was also attended by the presidents and secretary generals of the 
National Olympic Committee of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, 
Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The meeting was attended by the president of Pakistan Olympic Association 
(POA) and SAOC Arif Saeed and Federal Secretary of Pakistan's Sports Ministry 
Mr Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani. 

The BOA Secretary General jubaidur Rahman Rana was present from Bangladesh. 

At the SAOC executive committee meeting held in Lahore February 25 last year, 
it was decided to retain the disciplines and events scheduled for the South 
Asian Games in the Games.

The 14th SA Games were originally scheduled to be held March in 2023, before 
being successively pushed back to March 2024, then January 2026 and now 2027.
